Picnicking

Picnicking is a great way to spend time in nature. RMNP has many designated picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. Nearly all of these are on a first come, first served basis, so you may want to get there early to ensure the one you want is available. However, there are a few things to consider before packing your red and white checkered table cloth into a wicker basket. Read on to learn more about the different picnic sites and about recreating responsibly in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Be aware that you may need a timed-entry reservation to access the picnic areas during the summer and autumn season during certain times of the day. For picnic sites in the Bear Lake Road Corridor, timed entry reservations will be required between 5am-6pm. For all other areas of the park, timed entry reservation are required between 9am-2pm.
